The gut microbiota, comprising beneficial bacteria, has evolved alongside vertebrate hosts such as birds over millions of years. This symbiotic relationship has endured through natural selection because the microbiota crucially shields the host from significant threats like infectious diseases. These bacteria express several glycans, including the disaccharide alpha-Gal, which induce the production of natural antibodies in the host.
A team of researchers, including co-founders of microXpace, discovered gut bacteria that modulate the production of anti-alpha-Gal antibodies. These antibodies are particularly effective in neutralizing major pathogens affecting poultry. Further advancements have allowed for the modulation of this natural immune response, priming the birds into a 'ready-to-fight' state that provides simultaneous protection against multiple pathogens.
microXpace, in collaboration with our biotech partner Lallemand, is leveraging patented technology to develop a suite of products designed to simultaneously protect poultry from major parasitic and infectious diseases. Our flagship product, ChickGalX, is an environmentally friendly feed additive that is completely safe for use. Originally tested across various poultry species, ChickGalX has demonstrated significant efficacy in reducing disease signs induced by pathogens, including fungi. This allows poultry not only to maintain health but also to grow and gain weight more effectively.
